I have a 6-speed automatic transmission. The transmission went to 4th and skidded the tires significant enough to create smoke from the tires. Downshifting from 6th to 4th at 65 (or even 75+) mph shouldn't cause the tires to lock up. It might cause a 1500 +/- rpm jump, but that should be nowhere close to tire lockup.Disconnected negative battery cable to turn off alarm. 1 suggestion was to discontect positive cable let it sit for for atleast 30 minutes reconnect cable turn key to start and back to off 3 times and on the 4th time turn car over and start it. Tried it it did not work. Disconnected positive cable again.P0218 is a fluid temp issue. P0988 is also a fluid pressure issue. The last 3 will most likely be caused by the first. You can't get it to work in any gear other than 1st when you start from a stop and 4th. That's what limp mode is. The truck is protecting what's left of the transmission. Has anybody experienced anything like this? truck is it 2017 2500 power wagon with 67,000 miles on it.crasher76. 2344 posts · Joined 2009. #3 · Jun 15, 2010. when in limp mode operation the shift lever in the drive position will be in 3rd gear, and when moved to 2nd or l the transmission will be in 2nd gear. this will allow the driver to manually shift the transmission to limp home. well hope this helps least i gotcha out of 3rd and into 2nd.Re: I Got Stuck In 4th Gear! So I checked and rechecked everything. The fluid was down quite a bit. I got it topped off and took it for a test drive. In manual mode, I can stay in 5th, and it shifts “ok” I can feel some slippage between shifts. Truck attempted to shift from 3->4, RPMs jumped to 3,500 and it slammed into fourth. Now it’s stuck. Shut it off a few times, tried manual mode, etc. Reverse works fine but all forward gears are lost except ...I am not hard on the truck and changed the fluid and filters at 100k. It doesnt make any attempt to move in drive, but also doesnt make any noises. Also, putting the transmission in a particular gear using the selection doesnt make a difference. It feels as if the truck is in neutral. 2015 Ram 2500, 6.7, 68RFE, 4wd. Thanks a lot!!!.
